My husband and I are the only elderly couple on our street, My husband turned 82 in April, and I turned 79 in August. He watches TV all day and keeps it on at night. (that is why he is sleeping in the living room because I can not sleep with the TV on.

I do fall asleep, but I do wake up, and don't need that. He does go outside to check the mail, (he loves junk mail)

I do not go outside either because I have a degenerative disc disease and hip joint disease and it's hard for me to walk, even with a cane

None of my business how you arrange things, but my wife and I also like to fall asleep with the TV on too.

I use the sleep timer on the TV to turn it off after 30 minutes or and hour.

Not all TVs have the timer but it’s a very useful feature for us.
