Old-money San Francisco Democrats are grooming Gavin Newsom for a run at the presidency in 2024. So far as governor, Newsom has been unable to keep the lights on, let alone tackle California’s fathomless debt and corruption. Yeah, but in the era of Deep State control, a President doesn't have to actually do anything - he just has to look Presidential and soothe the sheep who need a pretty King to worship.
