It may be visually indistinguishable from hand marked ballots, but the ink used will be different.

There is no ink. From what I am able to discern, a printer deposits TONER on the ballot which (in normal laser printers) gets fused with heat. So you should be able to easily identify which ones used legitimate ink versus those that were marked by a printer with toner.

Now I’m just guessing here.
