Whatever is the standard for tabulating mail ballots needs to be uniform across the state. If “folded” is a concern that needs to be a concern across all counties. If it’s not a concern, then the poll watchers should be informed that it’s not a concern. That a particular poll watcher is being uncooperative, should be handled as an individual problem. Not as a “widespread” problem. Just like one or two dead people voting isn’t proof of “widespread” voter fraud, but, hundreds might be, and thousands certainly is.
Our concern is signature matches. As pathetic as a signature match is (as distinct from a photo i.d.), that’s what we have in Wisconsin. Also, that the mail ballot was requested. The law in Wisconsin requires that mail ballots be requested.
