JFK — pfffft!

I don’t disagree, but the original post was asking why there was such a big fuss over him. His popularity soared after his being shot. I was in high school at the time in California, so it was about 11 AM when the news broke. Before the announcement over the school’s PA system, a kid shouted, “Kennedy’s been shot” and there were some cheers over it. Within a few days, he’d’ve been beaten up for it and no one would have cheered.

I am so grateful that nothing like that happened to Obama. Living out the rest of my life with his being proclaimed a saint...well, it just doesn’t bear thinking about.

I guess I was in 10th grade, and the cheers erupted when the news came over the PA system that he’d been shot. The announcement referenced a “tragedy”. Some guy said, “The only tragedy is that he isn’t dead.” Well, he was dead but we didn’t know it yet.
