It occurred to me while reading this article that the reason religion/God is so important to maintain our Republic is because God and faith give hope and strength to the individual, so important when times get difficult.
Without God and faith, to whom does the individual turn? The government. And when a government wants to retain that power over the individual, what does it do? It destroys religion and the belief in God.
Such a revelation for me.
