I can fully believe that. I honestly don’t know what has happened to Americans. We were famous for independent thinking but now famous for fear.
Most Americans will do whatever the government tells them to, no matter how irrational. It’s all fear and it all comes through the media.

It has become hijab. Hence someone screaming at you when you’re walking on a trail without one, even though you’re 20 feet away.
Have you experienced that? I was walking some popular trails through the woods around here regularly during the sunny months, and I got a few looks, but nobody ever had the guts to say anything to me. I had one guy try to stare me down indignantly, but I stared him into nearly pissing himself without saying a word. I have been wearing the mini-hijab into the grocery store, but outdoors has always been my line in the sand, and woe to the SOB who tries to cross it.

My teenaged son went for a bike ride. Someone complained. I initially thought it was for not wearing a helmet or going on the major street instead of the trail. No, for not wearing a mask.
To burn off energy, he was biking 2-5 miles a day.
