U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana Thomas Kirsch II is scheduled to appear before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday as he begins the confirmation process to fill the vacancy on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals created by the appointment of Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The White House announced Oct. 21 its intention to nominate Kirsch for the seat on the appellate court. The nomination was sent to the Senate on Monday and Kirsch, along with four other nominees for the federal bench, is on the agenda for today’s judiciary committee hearing, which begins at 10 a.m.

In a statement released Oct. 27, Indiana Republican Sens. Todd Young and Mike Braun announced their support of Kirsch’s nomination.

“Thomas Kirsch has devoted his life to the pursuit of justice,” the senators said in their statement. “As U.S. Attorney, he fearlessly took on public corruption, gang violence, and terrorist activity, and he served honorably in the U.S. Department of Justice for more than a decade.”

A native of Hammond, Kirsch earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School in 1999. If he is confirmed to the 7th Circuit, he will fill the seat that was once occupied by Judge John Tinder. Kirsch clerked for Tinder in 2000-2001 when the judge was seated on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.

The Trump Administration nominated Kirsch to serve as a U.S. Attorney in July 2017. Kirsch was approved by the judiciary committee and confirmed by the Senate on a voice vote in October 2017.

If confirmed, he will be Trump's 54th Circuit judge in less than four years. Obama had 55 in EIGHT years.

There's also a nominee pending for the vacancy on the 1st Circuit.

And another vacancy opening up at the end of November on the 7th Circuit.

We’ll see how McConnell feels about it now that his Afghanistan war is being threatened.

Who is he? Oh, an outright Nazi that cheered on the genocide in Rwanda (all black victims!) and loves to repeatedly watch videos of Iran hanging homosexuals. Thinks women should be cooking in the kitchen while minding their baby bumps. But will allow them to wear sandals instead of being barefoot. Overall, another awful pick by Trump!

“has devoted his life to the pursuit of justice”

You can do that, or you can be a lawyer. Gotta choose though.

Ah yes, the three legend in their own mind octogenarian GOP confirmed 7th ckt judges that felt they were too damned important, two from Reagan and one from papa Boosh.

84, 82, and 82 years young. The worst case is happening. The 3 pompous old crows obviously of the never Trumper mindset. Why were they allowed to stay through the election. Turtle not able to deliver the offer you can’t refuse speech.

If Trump wins over the fraud and gets his 2nd term, those 3 old farts pushed to comfy overpaid senior status by the spring. Out of the way for good, PRONTO.
