if too many of the dead get the virus, they won’t be able to vote in the next election... serious stuff for democrats.

What’s the background on any person who runs veteran cemetery operations? It should be a veteran preferably one who has participated in combat operations.

It needs to get to the point that people just say NO.

No to absurd COVID restrictions. NO to the overlording of events, traditions, gatherings.

Just tell them to FECK off.

After that, it’s time to just chase these people out of our land. Be gone with them ....forever!! I mean ...how much more are we going to take. This will go on through infinity, every event, every single THING.

Not accurate. Wreaths Across America issued a statement saying that it was Arlington’s decision to cancel the event and that they were disappointed. Trump later tweeted that he was overriding Arlington’s decision. This was not under the non-profit’s control.

FWIW, I think WAA’s plans are as clear as mud...

I understand that there might be some confusion in the twitterverse on this, but the fact that Trump said he reversed the decision and the army secretary made this tweet supports the statement from WAA that was posted on November 16th that begins, “This afternoon, Wreaths Aceoss America was made aware of the decision by Arlington National Cemetery to no longer allow...”. Doesn’t sound like it was the non-profits call at all.

If you gi to WAA’s website, there’s not a lot of clarity there on whether they want virtual, warm bodies, both.

FWIW, I’d get WAA on the record: confirm or deny that they asked Arlington to do the ceremony virtually and/or supported doing it virtually.

On the record.

Given liability issues that Congress has done NOTHING to alleviate or mitigate, I’d be amazed if WAA wasn’t involved in this decision up to its eyeballs.

Simple solution: Have volunteers sign a liability waiver.

Here is the first tweet from Arlington National Cemetery saying that they are canceling it:

So it was definitely being presented as Arlington’s decision when it comes to official statements.

As for what WAA said to Arlington in private, no clue on that one

FWIW, I care far more about what’s said on WAA’s website.

That’s why I included the link. :-)

There’s one way to get to the bottom of this: ask WAA on the record if they had anything to do with Arlington’s decision and/or supported it.

I understand where you are coming from. As with many things, there may be lots of drama going on behind the scenes that we don’t know. For now, I personally put more weight on the public tweets from the cemetery, the President, and the army sec than the website. It’s not clear whether that event description was posted before or after ANC’s announcement and it’s not clear to what extent it still holds as Trump’s tweet was made less than fifteen hours ago. But we can agree it’s a fluid, confusing situation and more info is needed.

Side note, both the Army’s executive director of cemeteries mentioned in the article in the OP and WAA’s executive director are named Karen. Karen vs. Karen. Bit amusing.

FWIW, I can’t find any part of this cluster foxtrot funny.

If WAA had no part in that decision, they should bloody well say so.

And if they’re worried about liability, have their legal eagles draw up a damn waiver that will cover their butts.

Then put out a call for volunteers who would be willing to sign the waivers and lay the wreaths.

I was glad to hear this had been reversed. My mother became extremely upset when she went to order a wreath for my father’s headstone and was told the wreaths had been cancelled.

Doesn’t fool me. They wanted to cancel this and were looking for an excuse. Same for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The left is getting its money’s worth. They artificially inflated the impact of the virus and used it against Trump. There are other things on their wish list, and they are checking them off one at a time.

How much longer are going to allow this Marxist terror attack to destroy our freedoms and traditions? Wait till the vaccine comes out, I guarantee you something will come up that will make them claim the vaccines are defective. The Marxists aren’t going to give up this power so easily.

The executive director of WAA is Karen (of course) Worcester. Are there any Freeper lawyers and accountants out there who have the know-how to get an alternative organization up and running quickly? WAA should simply be run out of existence and replaced with an organization managed by people who give a damn.

The Worcester family wreath company initiated the idea, produces and transports the wreaths from Maine to Arlington.

Remember the Sequester under Hussein?

We had made plans for a week in DC ; and got reservations thru our congressman for a WH tour. Alas, the Hussein Sequester interrupted that.

I was pretty upset, I was disappointing my GD; it was going to be a trip of a lifetime.

B4 we left for DC I called my rep and complained, I got a hasty letter from the congresscritter, offering us a personal tour of the Rose Garden. I refused, b/c they were making a stink about closing [privately funded] Mt. Vernon, as well. [idiots] . And the congresscritter was Rosa DeLauro. [ugly to the bone]
