That has changed a lot in the last decade.
ESPN channels get the lion's share of standard cable subscriber fees - if any fees are even distributed.
Many of the channels on standard cable actually have to pay the cable provider just to get on the system.
Does Fox News currently get a share of subscriber fees?
I do not know.
However, large parts of the Fox News line up have also been completely abandoned by major advertising sponsors.
Tucker Carlson, Hannity, and Laura Ingraham have probably been money losers for Fox for all of 2020.
The only ads I see on those three shows are the Pillow Guy, Prayer.com, public service ads, and ads for other Fox News shows or Fox News products.
Fox News makes $1.4 billion in ad revenue and $1.6 billion in cable subscriber fee revenue annually.
