Good News: 70 Miles have moved from Pre-Construction, into the Under Construction category. That's a big jump. I am guessing that this/these groundbreaking(s) is/are probably in Texas - RGV or Laredo Sectors.

Bad News: It seems that the pace slowed a bit, over the last few weeks around the election, while they paused reporting.

This 402 miles completed, is nine miles behind the 10 mile per week pace that we were running, before the last report (371 miles) on 19 October. That would average about 8 miles per week, over those 4 weeks. Maybe there will be some snapback later. We have seen a bit of that kind of accordion effect in accounting/reporting before.

Yep. Work given to hard-core leftist unions. If that not, they'll just create unlocked doors at various points along the wall and just leave the remainder up.

The whole point of the wall was to make it hard to take down. If the Mexican drug cartels can’t cut their way through, the wusses in union labor aren’t going to have much success either.

More likely, the physical wall will stand, but the enhancements for surveillance and early warning on things like tunneling under will simply be turned off. And there will be no more “holding in Mexico”, either, for pretend asylum seekers.

Border Wall status reporting is back on the Monday schedule, after the election pause. 70 miles have moved from “pre-construction, into “under construction”.

87 miles remain in pre-construction. Hopefully, they can get that work started before inauguration day, to reduce the risk of cancellation, if the worst were to occur.

Land acquisition in Texas is the long pole in the tent, to get that done. Let’s see if there is a flurry of land condemnations in Texas.

“...union labor aren’t going to have much success either....” But the head cheeses at the union hall are gonna make a bunch of money trying.

If things turn out for the worst, hope the construction company contracts are going to make it real expensive to terminate. Sad dang days. Chin up.

Only if the courts allow Biden to steal the election.

“More likely, the physical wall will stand, but”...

That is my guess too. They could just throw open the gates through policy changes, turn off the monitoring systems, and pull back the Border Patrol.

It costs serious money to bust up and haul off all that concrete and steel. They might open a few gaps for “wildlife corridors”, but I really doubt they would foot the big bill to tear most of it down.

I’d like to see it be up to 500 miles by 20 January.

Biden & Co. will tear it down, and then give citizenship to the 30+ million illegals already here. Next, they will personally see to it that millions more from the 3rd world are brought in, made immediate citizens, and promised “free” everything - thus ending and permanently burying the greatest free constitutional republic that humanity ever saw.

I’d like it to be at LEAST 650. They need to get rotating crews going 24/7. The more of this wall that’s up by January 20th, the more secure our border will remain. Biden won’t find the money to tear it down; not if it’s built right and massively difficult and expensive to tear down.

Yeah that’s possible, but the real deal has already been called for - the shutting down of ICE and the BP. Doesn’t matter what state the wall is in if no one enforces immigration. Just let the thing rot away in the New Socialist Nation of North America NSNNA

“hope the construction company contracts are going to make it real expensive to terminate.”

That is one of the promising aspects of those 70 miles that just started construction. Contracts that are already underway, are the least likely to be halted.

Those that have not yet started construction, due to land acquisition not yet being complete , are definitely at risk.

I think it likely that a Biden Admin might immediately halt land acquisition in Texas, even if they don’t order an immediate stop work order on all contracts. They will likely ban any new contract awards.

They can still refer to the contracts underway as “built by Trump”, and let them run. (Of course, the press will back them up.) That is how Obama/Biden handled the Bush era border wall contracts, when they took over in 2009.

on the US side, i have heard it stated that locals will generally favor the wall for law and order reasons as beneficial for business.

i suppose the open question is if a biden harris admin would tear down a wall that demonstrably benefits local businesses and has (muted) local support.
