TV shows including This Is Us, Law & Order: SVU, and Chicago PD have started their new seasons with social justice-themed storylines touting systemic racism and portray law enforcement in a negative light.
Writers are working hard to keep race top of mind after left-wing activists pressured networks to change the way they portray black people and the police.
In NBC’s This Is Us premiere, the Black Lives Matter movement provokes an emotional epiphany in Randall Pearson (Sterling K. Brown), inspiring him to cut ties with his white therapist and confront his white family members about their silence on race.
This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman had promised to address the BLM movement in the new season, saying it was important for the network to air the season premiere before Election Day so viewers could experience the storylines before they voted.
The show kicked off with the death of George Floyd and the subsequent BLM protests.
White guilt also plays a role in the SVU season opener. Capt. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) gets a lesson from Internal Affairs, who inform her certain cops “never see themselves as racist but are in denial about their complicity in the systemic racism of the NYPD.”
Anti-cop sentiment is also on display in Chicago PD. In the opener, Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) finds himself the target of a smear campaign by white cops, who try to frame him by planting heroin in his car. The frame-up is revenge for Atwater’s decision last season to report on a white cop’s shooting of a black man.

Who watches Network TV anymore? I can’t even think of the last Network TV show I watched.
Network TV is dead. Dee - Ee - Ay - Dee DEAD. I haven’t watched anything since NCIS five years ago. Law & Order long long ago jumped the shark. I did enjoy Dennis Farina’s brief turn.
Roger that.
I will not be watching.
As if cops don;t have enough trouble already..STIR THE POT AGAIN....
They know we’re not watching anymore; they are scrambling for the last low-IQ people who will watch their garbage (including the PC commercials).
Not sure how making your lead cops out to be racists is a good idea. SVU was so disappointjng. Off my watch list as is This Is Us. So many other options.
Were they all wearing masks, too? Figured that would be what they pushed but of course they push the BLM crap.
How to destroy what’s left of tv shows. I stopped watching This Is Us when one of Randall’s daughter’s came out as gay, she was like 12 or 13. They ruined a half decent show and now this crap.
SVU, stopped watching back when GWB was president when they worked mocking him into a script.
Chicago PD, done with that now, too.
I hope all of their ratings crater and that all the damn networks go under.
That’s what all of these shows do, sucker people in for a season or two, to get them vested, then hit them with the wokeness.
these shows are based on true data....NOT!
I stopped watching TV shows that replay last week’s news in their new episodes. I never watched Law & Order, but I did watch Blue Bloods from its beginning because I like Tom Selleck. But after the years passed, and they started airing episodes that copied recent stories in the news, I gave up on it. It seems that the writers of these programs either can’t think of anything new to go with, or they’re simply too lazy, and rip the theme for their new episodes from the news headlines. No thanks.
Now you know why I haven’t watched any of these shows (used to like Law & Order before it became PC Central) in decades.
Sponsors - I’ll keep my money, thank you.
