Trump Administration Reaches Deal With Pharmacies to Make COVID-19 Vaccine Free

The Trump administration has struck a deal with pharmacies across the nation to make the COVID-19 vaccine available more widely and with no out-of-pocket costs.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Nov. 12 announced that the arrangement would involve both large chain pharmacies and networks representing independent pharmacies and regional chains.

Partnership with pharmacy chains covers around 60 percent of pharmacies in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. These include names like Albertsons, Costco, CVS, Publix, Walgreens, and Walmart, with a complete list available in the HHS release.

“We are leveraging the existing private sector infrastructure to get safe and effective vaccines supported by Operation Warp Speed into communities and into arms as quickly as possible with no out-of-pocket costs,” said HHS Secretary Alex Azar.

Operation Warp Speed is the Trump administration’s broad-based effort involving federal agencies and the private sector to accelerate the development, manufacturing, and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics.

Partnering with networks will expand vaccine availability to traditionally underserved areas through regional chains and independent pharmacies.

“The vast majority of Americans live within five miles of a pharmacy, and our new agreement with pharmacy partners across America is a critical step toward making sure all Americans have access to safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines when they are available,” Azar added.

The HHS noted that pharmacies not covered by the deal are being encouraged to coordinate with local health departments to provide the COVID-19 vaccine more widely.

“Ensuring access and affordability of the COVID-19 vaccine for all Americans is a top priority for the Trump Administration,” Azar said.

While there are currently no COVID-19 vaccines that have been authorized or approved by the Food and Drug Administration, the pharmacy partnership was launched in anticipation

I did not see the word “Mandatory” in the article.

Trump won’t make it mandatory nor will it be under his administration with a Republican Senate in control.

I cannot guarantee that if Biden is the President with a Democrat legislature.

I've already had this discussion about taking the vaccine with my various doctors. The standard line of "if the FDA thinks it's safe, it's safe" rings a little hollow.

So I won't be first in line. That said, Medicare may have something to say about it.

Remember back years ago when wearing seat belts was "suggested" and then it was mandatory?

When Liddie Dole was the Transportation Secretary, she made a deal with the automotive manufacturers that if they would push for seat belt laws she would go easy on safety changes the government was pushing for. Of course the automotive lobbyists were only too happy to comply with that suggestion. The cost of not wearing a seat belt is now equal to an actual moving violation.

Mark of the Beast. I worked in a bank, credit card dept. in ‘77-’78. The bank bought 3 ATMs and started issuing debit cards, heard the Mark of the Beast thing back then. Hiden Biden says Pres. Trump has done nothing about Covid-19. Yet when Trump learned how serious this virus is, he shut down in-coming flights from China, and then later Europe. He formed a Task Force; expedited FDA procedures for vaccines/treatments; increased testing; sent 2 hospital ships to NYC and Los Angeles (barely used); gave almost daily updates, and more.

What really bothers me is people don't know or forget that it was the Governors of the individual States that shut the economy down with millions of lost jobs and closed Mom&Pop businesses, NOT Trump.

I will take the vaccine.

The point of the vaccine is twofold. One-to keep you from getting sick. Two-prevent you from passing along to others who can become critically ill or die.
Just take the vaccine. The world is losing its mind.
