I live in a state with a CLIMBING PERCENTAGE OF POSITIVE CASES where the overall testing has trended down and is now half of what it was over a month ago.
As we get a better handle on symptoms, limit preventive testing, we should get a higher percentage, but overall lower numbers of cases.
Most states would be envious of a 2.6% positivity rate.
“Eliminate the virus” is an impossible goal.

Covid likely wouldn’t show on a test less than 48 hours after exposure, so if your result was accurate, you probably contracted it from another source. Your wife should retest at this point.

Bottom Line: His plan is funded, on contract, and on schedule.
Operation Warp Speed (Trump’s solution) will be delivering a tidal wave of vaccine before Inauguration Day perhaps beginning this month.
Powerful new treatments (Regeneron’s antibody cocktail) have been contracted for a huge buy, to keep ICUs free and mortality down until vaccination is widespread. PPE and ventilators are no longer issues.
Phizer should apply for their vaccine’s Emergency Use Authorization next week. They are already producing millions of doses, which will be ready to ship starting the day after approval, and under their contract, they will ramp up production to tens of millions per month, soon thereafter (January).
Initially, the US Government contracted with Phizer for a guaranteed total order of 100 million doses (under the Defense Production Act), if their vaccine was found to be safe and effective. In an apparent vote of confidence (by people with inside knowledge of the test results) the Government just raised their order to 600 million doses.
Two other candidates (Moderna and Johnson & Johnson) are also on track for possible approval a few weeks after Phizer (December). Both of them also have 100 million dose orders under the Defense Production Act, and should have similar production curves to Phizer.
So the expected outcome is that front line health care workers, and the highest risk populations (two co-morbidities) should start getting vaccinated through December. In January, vaccination should expand to those who are just elderly, or with one co-morbidity, prisoners and some students.
By the end of January (i.e. Inauguration Day) we will likely already have multiple effective vaccines in full rate production, and already be well down the path of vaccinating the high risk populations (CVS and Walgrens already have large contracts to administer them, and the Military is prepared to assist rapid distribution). February (January even) should see mass public drives to get at risk people (those over 65, or with any co-morbidity) vaccinated.
So everything is already laid on - it just needs to run its course.
It takes two shots, spaced three weeks apart for the Phizer vaccine to achieve the better than 90% immunity a week later (28 days after the first shot). So by the end of February, death rates and ICU cases should collapse markedly. By the end of March there should be no serious justification for any continued lock downs. Vaccination should be expanded to the general population of those at no particular risk by then.

If they haven’t resolved that issue in over a hundred years later, can they resolve any issue today?
