Britain and France were status quo powers. Germany, not so much. And then there was this:

The thing that isolationists miss about Switzerland is that it survives only because the powers that prevailed were not interested in annexing it. If Napoleon or Hitler had won, Switzerland would be part of their respective empires.

Germany never had the power to conquer the US.

They didn’t do power projection via sea power. Therefore were never a threat to us.
