Deeply Blue New England Disrupted by Republican Wins in Down-Ballot Races
Breitbart ^ | 11/10/2020 | Ashley Oliver

The Democrat stronghold in New England has weakened after a few lower-ticket 2020 election surprises, including an entire state’s legislature flipping to red and two House speakers being ousted by Republicans.

One enormous upset came out of New Hampshire, where both chambers of its legislature and its Executive Council lost their Democrat majorities.

And the GOP gave Trump a 96% approval rating, and last minute deciders broke for Trump.

Not sure how independents broke though. Maybe they voted a lot of Biden and left the rest blank (I think likely—first time voters who were told “Orange Man bad” know nothing more to vote further down the ballot and don’t care), or Independents voted a lot of down ticket GOP and left the President blank? Because they don’t like how he tweets? Seems unlikely.

I saw a chart and there are TONS of party reg as Independent these days. Like 33% of many states.

In both Vermont and New Hampshire, Trump improved his vote totals compared to 2016. But Biden does that far better than Hillary or Obama? That does not pass the initial smell test. However, I can see that those two states were likely that good deal more rural and old stock Yankee when they were reliably Republican and not as influenced by Bostonians or New Yorkers.

Every GOP legislature needs to get to work radically reforming their voting systems

Disconnect from all voting software

Require traceable paper ballots

A decennial purge of voter rolls with re-registration required

ID and signature required for voting

Limitation of mail-in and absentee ballots to deployed military and medical necessity only. Must all be received before Election Day.

NYS flipped back a few, could have been more with an actual state GOP Party.

You know, we’re dealing with obvious, egregious fraud in multiple states (PA, MI, WI, GA, AZ and probably others). However, if someone told me that there were *some* voters in NH who were voting Biden but GOP down-ballot, I actually find that semi-believable. There is a certain New England type personality that hates New Yorkers.

I have heard this from several friends, and a neighbor. They voted Republican down ticket all the way, but couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Trump. I suspect there are many people that feel that way, and it’s obvious in New Hampshire, with no allegations of voter fraud.

If they’re Charlie Baker-type RINOs, what’s the difference?

At the most, I’ve heard stories that you get some college students in Dartmouth and elsewhere that reside in NY or MA, but will vote in NH. Really the only sort of “fraud” that you might think about. See my above post for even more of my guesses.

New Hampshire:

The Senate flipped from a 14–10 Democrat majority to a 14–10 Republican majority, the 400-seat House that had 157 Republicans will now have 213, and Republicans have taken control of the powerful Executive Council, 4–1. The Executive Council, unique to the Granite State, appoints government officials, controls the release of money from Treasury, and can make pardons.

I hope the lesson people take from all this is that State and Local elections matter.

There is a certain New England type personality that hates New Yorkers.

Bernie Sanders, a New Yorker, is very popular in New England.

There are a lot of CNN, MSNBC, PBS, NPR, etc. consumers here though. That is where the Trump hate comes from.

Students are not supposed to be able to vote in the elections.

NH closed that loophole but the flaming liberals up in Hanover are just blatantly ignoring it..

There were "some" but not many. Look at the reported data from each town or city to see the patterns.

Gov. Sununu got some crossovers from the Biden voting side. That is pretty common in NH. Independent voters tend to retain governors for a second term. Sununu is also a bit of a RINO so he worked to keep the support of the voters who do not declare a party.

State Senate and Executive Counsel races may have districts that were much more conservative. Remember, the Dems in NH are not uniformly distributed. They cluster in Portsmouth and the college towns.

They do in NH where you can win a seat with only a few hundred votes.

NH is not a big state nor crowded, and to have 400 districts means that it’s easy for republicans to get seats, especially away from the cities.
