On a quiet street corner on Chicago’s Far Northwest Side, a lone blue-and-white Biden-Harris sign stood on a tidy front lawn late this week. Behind the bungalow’s tan fence, a man grilling burgers in the unseasonably warm November twilight said the sign wasn’t his.
“I actually went with Trump. My wife went for Biden,” Alex Mendez, 51, said with a laugh.
In famously Democratic Chicago, politically divided households might be harder to come by than those split between Cubs and White Sox fans. The 41st Ward isn’t the norm, though.
Centered around the Edison Park neighborhood east of O’Hare International Airport, the ward was the only one in the city where a majority of ballots cast Tuesday went to President Donald Trump. The Trump-Mike Pence ticket got 51.7% of the vote there, according to unofficial results.
Citywide, Trump got 16.7% of the vote. That’s better than the 12.4% of the vote he landed against Hillary Clinton in 2016. But the overall electoral picture was a familiar one.
Fourteen of the city’s 50 wards topped 90% support for former Vice President Joe Biden. The biggest cluster was on the city’s South Side — with the largest support for Biden in the 21st Ward where nearly 96% of voters cast a ballot for the Democratic ticket.
Biden got less than 60% of the votes in just three wards, including the 41st, where he and Kamala Harris got 46.7%.

Two hours after Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker delivered his coronavirus briefing for Illinois, the governor’s office announced he is isolating pending the results of a coronavirus test due to a recent exposure.
That and if hungry space aliens arrive, THEY WILL EAT THE FAT ONES FIRST!
