Miami-Dade saw high voter turnout in Tuesday's election, and while the county once again went to Democrats in the presidential race Republicans were able to narrow the gap.
Turnout in Miami-Dade was higher than expected, with 1,165,073 ballots cast out of 1,563,572 registered voters, for 74.51% turnout, according to figures from the county's elections department.
The 2020 figure topped 2016's turnout of 72.40% in the county, 2012's turnout of 67.59% and 2008's 70.05% turnout.
Results from the county showed Democrat Joe Biden won Miami-Dade with 53.31% to Republican Donald Trump's 45.98%. Biden finished with 617,201 votes to Trump's 532,409 votes in the county.
Part of Trump's good performance here (unprecedented for a republican) might be explained as increased support from the Latino community there.
Part of this is also explained by the fact that DeSantis acted to clean this up after years of shenanigans by forcing the person in charge to step down.
This is a bell-weather county for the democrat party in national elections.
Going by these numbers, with a strict and well-run election and count, how/why are other districts such as Atlanta Metro, Detroit, Philly, and Madison so out of whack though?
Without shenanigans the DNC was in a panic over Miami-Dade saying that voters were not turning out for Biden.
What changed? Trump gained voters by his performance and perhaps most importantly, the shenanigans in Miami-Dade were stopped. Given this historical electorate though even if we deduct 5pts for Trump and say it is a 60/40 split to account for the Latino anti-socialism vote, why are the other traditional democrat strongholds above so far out of whack with Miami-Dade?
Any Miami FReepers care to comment?
It is more evidence of vote fraud.
Biden cannot be seated.
strong Cuban American turnout.
A lot of those Latinos are Cuban and Venezuelan...they all know too much about Socialism.
What does it tell us?? Simple- when the GOP puts good candidates on the ballot like President Trump, people will vote GOP...when they give us middle of the road losers like mccain and romney, nobody cares...
Trump also vastly outperformed in the Rio Grande Valley. These are Mexican Americans.
“strong Cuban American turnout”
Agreed. Living in north Florida I know this about south Florida....lots of Latino / Hispanics of many ethnicities and they know 1st hand what communism is an they know they don’t want it.
Everyone I know that moved to FL, did so to avoid taxes ... They won’t be voting Dem anytime soon ...
I tried to account for the Cubano vote, but in general my understanding is that they tend to be conservative in past elections also.
Look how close the gap is in comparison to past elections.
We had a clean process and a MUCH BETTER result with no shenanigans. Based on past history, this is clearly a democrat stronghold with a very diverse population.
Are we to believe that we had such a radically different outcome in Miami-Dade vs other democrat strongholds? There was VERY LITTLE enthusiasm for Biden with minority voters in comparison to elections past, yet we saw 90% plus turn-out in those areas in the swing states?
It is math and data. Sure, there can be a few points difference specific to one blue stronghold over another, but even a 65/35 split in other blue strongholds nationwide and Trump wins over 300 electoral votes. Florida was bombed with a media blitz for Biden yet there is a smaller turn-out in Miami-Dade and a much tighter margin than other democrat strongholds?
The data is interesting and for me it further illustrates some of the anomalies we are seeing elsewhere.
Anyone familiar with other traditional blue strongholds where Trump did much better? This is all odd when you look at the data. Ohio is another example - clean election with huge blue strongholds very similar to Atlanta, Detroit, and Philly. What are the numbers in Cleveland and Cincinnati compared to 2016?
Yep, strong turnout for PDJT from my fellow Americans born in Cuba. As I’ve mentioned in previous threads, in some parts of Miami-Dade county, Trump signs abounded, nary a Biteme sign; never seen that for any candidate.
Chins up my fellow Freepers. Cometh the hour, cometh the man. We have the right guy on our corner for this fight.
I still find it interesting that after DeSantis removes the head of the election there in a place that had been very skewed to the left all of a sudden tightens this drastically.
Turn out in my county (Duval) was 74.73%. Population is around 1.1 million.
It tells you that Democrat hack that used to run that countys counting was fired
are there any republican county strongholds in Fla?
Governors matter.
Let’s face it, if Gillum was Governor, Biden would have won Florida.
Yes.
SO Miami Dade had a 74% turnout BUT we are expected to believe counties in Wisconsin and Michigan had 90% BS!!!
Ron DeSantis seems to be the real deal. Other Republican Governors need to learn from him. He cleaned up Florida. We can do the same with other states.
