Heck, give both kids a drum.
A tuba is a good 3rd choice.
A friend of mine with a large family were flummoxed when the in-laws gave the kids a karaoke machine for Christmas. That was purgatory.
Worst I had was when visiting a long-time family friend, the parents gave gifts for our youngsters, including kazoos ... right before a 1,000 mile trip from Connecticut to Illinois.
