Senate Pro-Life Leader Steve Daines Wins Re-Election, Defeats Governor Who Endorsed Infanticide

Pro-life Montana Sen. Steve Daines easily defeated his pro-abortion challenger Tuesday in a race that Democrat leaders had hoped would help them regain control of the Senate.

The Daily Wire reports Daines won re-election against Gov. Steve Bullock, a pro-abortion Democrat.

Infamously, Bullock vetoed legislation in 2019 that would have protected newborn babies from infanticide. The Montana Born-Alive Infants Protection Act simply would have required that babies who survive abortions be provided with the same medical care as any other infant born at that stage of development.

In contrast, Daines has a 100-percent pro-life voting record from the National Right to Life Committee. He recently voted to protect unborn babies from late-term abortions by supporting the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act as well as newborns from infanticide by voting for the federal Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

According to the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, Daines defeated Bullock by 6 percent. In his victory speech, he reassured voters of his commitment to protecting unborn babies from abortions.

“Montana is a very special place,” Daines said. “Like you, I want to keep it that way. We are so grateful tonight that the voice of Montana has been heard loud and clear.”

According to the AP, the race saw a record $100 million in spending as Democrat leaders tried to flip the seat blue. Republicans have a narrow majority in the U.S. Senate, and it appears that they will continue to hold a narrow majority in 2021 – though several states still have not announced final election results.

RCP average showed a dead even race, vs the actual 10% margin:

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2020/senate/mt/montana_senate_daines_vs_bullock-7063.html

No one should be surprised. The conceit of pollsters is that they are scientists. They dazzle us with a blizzard of rationalizations, but what they do is similar to witchcraft. Nobody knows nothing*. The basic assumption of polling is that the profile of the people who respond is similar to the voting population. They are discovering that this is untrue to the point that their numbers are worthless either in themselves or as trend indicators.

* This was what an Oscar-winning scriptwriter said about the movie business. His favorite movies - the ones he was involved in - were commercial and critical duds. His least favorite ones were his Oscar-winning blockbusters. But it might as well apply to the polling biz. Trying to divine the intentions of a voting population of hundreds of thousands from a random sample of a few hundred may be impossible. The intent is to get a random, representative sample. But the kinds of people who respond to polls may not be representative of the larger milieu.

And his friend and former boss Greg Gianforte will be the new Governor. Why MT couldn’t get rid of Tester in 2018, only Montanians understand.

“And his friend and former boss Greg Gianforte will be the new Governor. Why MT couldn’t get rid of Tester in 2018, only Montanians understand.”

Tester defeated Conrad Burns in 2006. Tester used the ‘Jack Abramoff’ angle (associated with #43) to effectively attack Burns.

Burns was the FIRST Senator in the history of Montana to be reelected.

Now Daines is the second. And good for us (Montana).

Steve Daines is a good man. I’ve personally known his father for decades and have known Steve for 20 years.

You want to accuse us Montanians of being _____ (you fill in the blank) then YOU come out here and make a difference.

Or STFU.

Greg G will be a much better Governor than we have had since Ted Schwinden (a decent Democrat).

We suffered through two terms of the ‘Republican’ Marc Racicot. He wanted a sales tax (with NO alleviation of existing taxes), it went down 70% to 30%.

Racicot stated: “I’ve learned my lesson - NO sales tax in Montana. Reelect ME”

We did. then tried a second term for a sales tax. This time it went down 75% to 25%. Of course Bush #43 loved him.

Leave Daines, Gianforte (hey, he punched out a member of the press that was taunting him!) and Montana alone with your derision.

Oh piss off, I didn’t deride Montanians, nor did I attack Gianforte or Daines, both of whom I was happy to see win. And you seem a little snow flakeish to claim the title.
