There is also a principle that real data tends to cluster around higher trailing digits. An average person would think that every number would have a 105 chance of appearing, but for some reason this is not the case.

Interesting, but I think you’ve still got it wrong.

It is that the leading digit is more often 1 and less often a 7. 8 or 9, which makes sense if you think of street numbers for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benford’s_law.
