From an optics perspective yes the response to Covid since May has been bad for President Trump.
The true shame of that is that the recent European spike proves that there was likely nothing Trump could have done to stop the spread. Once the Chinese unleashed it on the world, then the die was cast.
Maybe Trump should have just embraced masking, even though it likely would have made little or no difference. Perhaps such largely symbolic action would have helped with the suburban female vote that may have sunk him when all is said and done.
Trump was doing everything he could to defend his COVID response. How many times did he talk about vaccines and therapies ready to go and for free etc?
The problem is he got DAMN LITTLE HELP FROM SENATORS AND CONGRESS CRITTERS!!!

Your analysis is I believe correct... but even that might not have been enough. Also suburban women are pro-choice, pro LGBTQ, and blame Trump for the death of George Floyd. I really wish this wasn’t the case, but it is. And it’s because they believe the lies of the media that they consume 24/7.
Fox had one of those suburban women who flipped from Trump to Biden on last week. She was screeching about how Trump is causing division in the country like she’s never seen and basically implying people rioting in the streets is his fault. Unfortunately I know women like this. When Al Queda was attacking they were asking what did we do wrong that angered them so much. Don’t know how to fix this kind of stupid.
