Important to note that neither the Texas nor Harris County Republican Parties were involved in this lawsuit. This lawsuit was filed by perennial election litigant Steve Hotze and three Republican candidates: Wendell Champion, who is running against Sheila Jackson Lee for Congress, Sharon Hemphill, who is running for judge of the 80th District Court, and Steve Toth, who is running for re-election to the state house of representatives. I can see why Hotze, Hemphill, and Toth lack standing in a suit under federal law when they are not running for federal office, but I’m not sure why Champion lacks standing.

Honestly, I wish they had not filed this suit. It doesn’t help anyone and is giving the Republican Party a black eye by association. This lawsuit is severely unpopular. Moreover, neither Champion’s nor Toth’s elections are likely to be decided by whether these drive-thru votes are counted. Champion will probably lose by a large margin and Toth will likely win by a large margin. Hemphill’s election, which is county-wide, might possibly be close, but she’s running for a state office in an election is governed purely by state law, and the Texas Supreme Court has already spoken.

In Texas when one votes at a polling place, identity is confirmed, the proper voting registration is confirmed and the ballot is in an approved chain of custody with signatures from the voter and the election worker.

None of this was happening with drive thru voting. Show up, drop it off and away you go. Much easier for ballot harvesters.

Extra ballots or secondary ballots can cause major trouble for legitimate voters, having their election day vote rejected or nullified due to an illegal ballot.

That's not what happened.

Voters drove to an "early voting" location. Voter ID checked. Voter given a hand-held device (similar to hand-held credit card readers). Voter votes electronically inside their car.

This is wrong.

The judge specifically said if the voter ID was confirmed and checked against the registration and was given a ballot, what the harm was.

The plaintiffs couldn’t answer it.

Vote collectors were bringing in votes from old folks homes and dropping them off to friendlies at the drive through rather than coming inside and getting seen by poll watchers with piles of votes... this is how sheila jackson lee wins every time... she doesn’t even campaign any more.

“The judge ruled that people are free to vote from their own Accord.”

I may not agree with the ruling but I’m not gonna Saab about it.

I would think that if Harris County allows and operates drive in polling places, then all counties of Texas would be required to do the same. The State Legislature sets the uniform rules for elections in the State of Texas. County Judges (in Texas, “judges”, so called, are the county level executives). I believe that Harris County can’t do this without legislation.
