Then they shop on the OR side to avoid the sales tax.
This little tax game has taken a sleepy town of 46K residents in 1990 and turned it into a big city of 184K today!
Most people work in Portland, so they are paying income tax (until Covid). The reason for population growth was primarily lower property taxes and lower housing costs.
But if they work in Oregon they pay Oregon income taxes but escape Oregon property tax.
No...actually, if you live in WA and work in OREGON you get taxed. People live in Vancouver probably for lower housing costs, and lower state taxes.
