Sir Sean Connery has died at the age of 90, his family has said.
The Scottish actor was best known for his portrayal of James Bond, being the first to bring the role to the big screen and appearing in seven of the spy thrillers.
His acting career spanned decades and his many awards included an Oscar, two Bafta awards and three Golden Globes.
He was largely regarded as being the best actor to have played 007 in the long-running franchise, often being named as such in polls.

RIP Mr. Bond!
You Only Live Thrice
Just listening to Goldfinger on the radio then logged on and saw this. Weird.
Very sad. He’s remembered for Bond but his body of work was so much more than that.
RIP Sir. Thank you for many hours of quality entertainment.
It is odd, but it might be why it was on the radio.
Im shaken that he has not now stirred. Nevermore.
God 2020 sucks.
Nope. Satellite radio. Billy Joel Channel. Pre-recorded show playing his favorite movie themes.
Not just Bond...
Malone : [talking privately in a church] You said you wanted to get Capone. Do you really wanna get him? You see what I’m saying is, what are you prepared to do?
Ness : Anything within the law.
Malone : And *then* what are you prepared to do? If you open the can on these worms you must be prepared to go all the way. Because they’re not gonna give up the fight, until one of you is dead.
Ness : I want to get Capone! I don’t know how to do it.
Malone : You wanna know how to get Capone? They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That’s* the *Chicago* way! And that’s how you get Capone. Now do you want to do that? Are you ready to do that? I’m offering you a deal. Do you want this deal?
Ness : I have sworn to capture this man with all legal powers at my disposal and I will do so.
Malone : Well, the Lord hates a coward.
[jabs Ness with his hand, and Ness shakes it]
Malone : Do you know what a blood oath is, Mr. Ness?
Ness : Yes.
Malone : Good, ‘cause you just took one.
He was great as Father von Baskerville in The Name of the Rose, and Allan Quatermain from The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
Great actor, especially when you compare him to the garbage actors that are coming out of Hollywood these days.
As he was an ardent Scot, here he is in his kilt!
OK; great song, BTW.
definitive James Bond
Indeed. For those of us old enough to have started watching the franchise in the 60s, nobody else came close.
I remember Mom strictly forbade me from seeing Goldfinger when I was 13. In that pre-VHS era, once it was gone from the theater, it was gone for good. There were no art theaters that brought movies back after their theatrical release ended. It was never to be seen again.
Its hard to imagine that today.
He played Hotspur in the 1950s BBC production “An Age of Kings,” and did it very well indeed.
Such a great actor!
“2020 sucks”
Reminds me of a T shirt I saw in the grocery store the other day:
“Day drinking.........because 2020 sucks!”
