I said why did he document everything from the very beginning? Anyone that does business in Eastern Europe, China, South America and India (to name a few) HAS to grease someone’s palm. I have personally seen it.
All US publicly held companies have a code of ethical conduct that includes international dealings. What every company does is hire an “agent” that does the dirty work with whom your working with. Example; I give the agent $20K for “consulting” and he pays off the customer and I get the deal. Happens everyday, everywhere. One of my colleagues that had the China region stopped at a bank in Beijing and came out with two shopping bags filled with cash before his meeting with a steel manufacturer.
I had as my region all of Europe, Russia, India and Africa. I have seen this corruption everywhere. Worked for them less than one year and got out and retired. The point is it’s everywhere.

Why did he document everything from the very beginning? The optimist in me says that it was because he planned to blow the whole thing wide open from the beginning because he had a premonition.
Who knows what goes on in someone’s mind? Let’s give him credit for bravely stepping up and exposing the corruption at a real personal cost.
