‘Gain of Function’ research has been going on for years and years. I might have believed it to be an accident had it happened at any other time. But a pandemic of this intensity and scale has never happened in modern times. Not only does it not have a precedent it happens during the peak of the tariff wars (something the Chicoms have never had to face), when companies are starting to move out of China (started before the pandemic), there is increased tension in the South China sea..and at a time when the US is clearly starting to get the upper hand and China’s economy is in the decline. Also it happens almost a year before the election allowing enough time for the epidemic to turn into a pandemic and full blown crisis potentially affecting the outcome of the election. And then you look at how quickly the Chinese sprang to action shutting off domestic flights out of Wuhan but leaving flights to the US open. Sorry I just don’t buy the ‘accident’ theory.

Many Asian scientists use western pseudonyms so they are more easily remembered. Instead of a name like Ping Wu Fong, They might use a name like Peter Fong. I know dozens of people personally who do this, and some are very well known in their field of study with hundreds of publications under a pseudonym.

There are several studies ongoing, not published where researchers are attempting to take the human Covid-19 virus and infect two other species of nearly identical bats........unsuccessfully so far.
..........
Very odd, cross-species infections are expected to go both ways. That gives credence to the theory that Covid-19 was lab mutated. There are now several strains of Covid-19 mutations in humans that dramatically affect the lethality. Those same mutations do not cross species back to bats or any other mammals, natural mutations should have at least some ability to cross back over.
..............
Finally, as a bioweapon, it is not a very good one. The younger, more capable, healthier humans are generally unaffected. It is of little use to kill off an enemy’s old, feeble and sick.
............
Why would the Chinese release this supposed weapon on their own people first? Why wouldn’t this weapon be tested on Vietnamese, Uighurs, Tibetans first? After all, the Chinese treasure their own families and friends as much as we do.

” one of the weakest forms of argument is the “ad hominum” argument”

Some of the greatest scientific discoveries were made using the method of ad hominem. Like, like, who knows what? So many. There must be a lot of them.

Another favorite scientific technique of mine is “argumentum ad verecundiam”, also known by the wise at CNN as “Experts Agree”. That’s how bloodletting remained the standard practice for fighting disease for so many centuries.
