That works, reduce DC to just the immediate area around the key Federal Buildings (White House, Capital, Supreme Court buildings) - a small number of blocks, return the rest to Maryland works for me.

We our President is re-elected, hopefully we have both houses of Congress, we should push this through along with independence for PR/VI. Clearing the decks of these silly risks of statehood for things that should never be states.

While a good idea, I don’t think MD wants them. And then there’s the little problem of the 23rd Amendment which grants “The District constituting the seat of government of the U.S.”...Presidential Electors. I don’t think Congress can just pass a law that grants DC statehood without dealing with some serious Constitutional problems.
