So my half sister, who I referred to in an earlier comment upthread, sent me another email. This time she had a message....as I paraphrase....”I am so worried Biden is going to win this. And I hate living in a Democratic state like Maryland. My father was a devout Republican.”
Which brought up that good story.
Her father is my stepfather, my mother’s second husband. He was born in Germany and came to America sometime in the ‘60’s.
They had lived in East Germany, the part controlled by the USSR. They only way they could escapt was him and his younger sister to hide under blankets in the back of their car as they went through the East Germany checkpoint.
They managed to escape and had a sponsor for them in America. In those days immigrants had American citizen sposors.
He served in the American Army, he became a citizen, he loved this country with all his heart and soul until he died.
So it’s his daughter I am talking to and he and my mother had three children.
He taught his children to love America and as you can see, they do.
I told her Biden wasn’t going to win.
But she’s worried about it.
Story sounds similar to my family.
My Grandpa when though the Bolshevik Revolution. His first job was fighting for America in WWI. He loved this country and HATED big government. (He was also p.o.ed at the unions for becoming to corrupt.)
