Yes, Isn’t it weird watching some young white BLM supporter scream into the face of a black policeman? Do you wonder how members of groups like Antifa can claim to be anti-fascist while acting like fascists?
Narcissism!
Some of these young white protesters obviously mean well but are largely just misinformed and have been propagandized into believing things that simply are not true. However, you can’t even talk to a real committed left-wing activist or one of their incessantly virtue signaling followers... so don’t even try. Far too many people don’t understand the narcissistic component of activism and do not realize that it’s really not about the issue of which they’re protesting, it is actually all about them.
Those of us that have dove deep into the phenomenon of narcissism understand that virtue signaling is the flagpole of a narcissist. The flag of any cause they can champion that will make them appear to be a better human than everybody around them will be quickly raised for all to see. Narcissist are pathologically driven to pretend, both to convince us and themselves that they care more than anybody else.
People have a misconception about narcissism. Narcissists act like they’re better than everybody so a lot of people think that it is just about them having an inflated ego. In fact, if you were familiar with the Greek story Narcissus but not the underlying causes of narcissism, you would believe that also.
In Ovid’s story, Narcissus became thirsty and found a pool of water. Seeing his reflection in the water he thought it was a beautiful nymph, not realizing it was his own reflection. However, each time he bent down to kiss the nymph, she seemed to disappear. Narcissus grew increasingly thirsty, but would not leave or touch the water for fear of losing sight of his reflection. Eventually he died of thirst, and on that very spot... there appeared a narcissus flower.
So, the story of narcissus, the fictional character for whom this disorder is named, is interpreted by many as the story of someone that was so in love with his own appearance that it cost him his life. In fact, it is just the opposite. Narcissism is generally considered to be caused by low self-esteem and self-loathing. Those most frequently diagnosed with clinical narcissism usually had a very bad childhood which left them feeling terribly inadequate, blaming themselves for things that happened to them, hating themselves and feeling unworthy of being loved. In fact that’s the nature of children. Often times they will even blame themselves for their parents divorce or abuse at the hands of their parents.
Most mental health professionals agree that our personality is formed between the ages of 2 to 6 years old and sometimes a little later. Those things that happen to us when we’re children impact us for the rest of our life and no more so than someone who has developed a Cluster B personality disorder like narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) from their experiences. The understandable exception to this explanation for the disorder is that sometimes those children that have been overly indulged and spoiled rotten will often develop narcissism also. There is a consensus among mental Health community that a narcissist is stuck at the emotional age of about 6 years old. In fact, they do act like spoiled, undisciplined and entitled children who care little about the feelings of others.
No where is narcissism more in evidence than in groups like Antifa who are filled with people that don’t fit well in society due to their pathologies, including anger issues, so their rage and need for acceptance drives them to activism where they can both prove their superiority and vent the pathological rage that consumes them. When you look at Antifa specifically, you will notice that a fair percentage of their members identify as gay or lesbian or suffer from some form of gender dysphoria. To understand narcissism is to understand why Antifa is full of people that hate themselves so much they want to be something other than the gender to which they were born.
Have you ever asked yourself why Progressive activists claim to have so much compassion for illegal immigrants while demonstrating so little for fellow citizens who have been harmed by illegal immigration or dare to disagree with them? I will explain this contradiction but first, understand this; narcissists actually have little or no compassion, it is but an act. Most of them are simply hate-filled misanthropes, full of rage.
Most Progressive activists exhibit the typical virtue signalling, false compassion and rage of a pathological narcissist. Real compassion isn’t situational. Truly empathetic people are kind to everyone, they don’t profess how much they care about someone from another country they have never met while calling their neighbors and coworkers “racists” and “Nazis”.
You see, individuals with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), those who exhibit at least five of the nine clinically-defined behavioral traits of narcissism are pathologically driven to present a false face, a facade, a fake persona. It is the beautiful tapestry they weave over the top of their self-loathing and ugly heart so no one can see the black hole at their core. At the same time, they can barely conceal their narcissistic rage which can surface at the slightest provocation. These traits are clearly visible when observing the behavior of progressive illegal immigration activists.
Illegal immigration activism is the perfect vehicle for the narcissist because it allows them to claim moral superiority and the high ground of compassion while at the same time venting their deep rage at those that dare disagree with the policies they support. Additionally, the fawning support of their like-minded and equally disordered peers provides them an ample reservoir of secondary narcissistic supply which reinforces both their false face and their own delusion that they are better than everyone else.
What narcissist wouldn’t want to be a fully engaged Progressive activist? It is the perfect disguise for their psychological disorder; their activism for the dispossessed proves to them they are a “good person”, provides them a platform to spew their narcissistic rage... with a built-in alibi for their hateful and outrageous behavior...and provides a bountiful source of the primary and secondary narcissistic supply necessary for their mental stability.
A comprehensive understanding of the nature and psychological processes of narcissism and Narcissistic Personality Disorder is an absolutely indisposable tool in dealing with these kinds of people. The greatest fear of a covert narcissist is being exposed for who and what they really are. After lashing out with insults and invective, they will eventually run from you as if you were a lump of kryptonite when you point out their hypocrisy and confront them with their psychopathy.
To understand narcissism is to understand the modern-day, bile-launching, holier-than-thou progressive activist class.
Unfortunately real narcissists often live far longer than anyone wants them to. The damage they do to others never ends.
There's something about living in a city that induces narcissism far more often than natural human population densities do. To match, NYC has the highest density of headshrinkers in the world. It's a permanent gig because their clients are impossible to cure. There is a promising new treatment though: 6 foot social distancing, but done in the vertical direction.
