JFK's father was an absolute despicable pig. He used to "share" girlfriends with his sons.And my Dad told the story of once having been in the lobby of a fancy Boston hotel and seeing Gloria Swanson walking through and getting on the elevator and then,a few minutes later,seeing Old Man Kennedy walking through and getting on the elevator.To whatever degree JFK was a pig he was taught to be one by his old man.

And of all the Rat Presidents who've served during my lifetime Truman and JFK were,by far,the least repugnant.Truman made the right decision regarding Hiroshima and JFK once proclaimed "let them come to Berlin".

Neither Truman nor JFK would be allowed membership in today's Rat Party!

My grandmother lived in Hyannisport close to Papa Joe.

If Truman had not run for a full term in 1948, he would probably be regarded today as one of our greatest presidents--for winning WWII with the A-bomb and then organizing the West to fight the Cold War. All the bad stuff--his socialist Fair Deal, the loss of China, the Korean debacle, the security breaches exposed by Joe McCarthy--came in his second term.
