Maybe I’m dense, but it seems to my that when you sell or lease something, you are exchanging something of equal value.
That’s not to say that there may not be a profit involved, but when trump leases a floor of a building, he loses use of that space, and the ability to lease it to others. And the business pays taxes on any net gain.

I don’t know the particulars of the lease but I’ve been involved in leasing of all types all my life and I can tell you that IF the date on the lease pre dates Trumps election then there is NOTHING Trump could do to altar the lease without the permission of the Lessee........whoever that was.

The headline strongly implies the Chinese paid Trump personally. I seriously doubt that.

I suppose it’s also possible that the Chinese tenant was merely exercising an option to renew the lease.
If Xi Jinping is bribing Trump, he needs to ask for his money back, given all the measures Trump has taken against him. That includes having the daughter of one of the Party’s bigwigs, the Huawei CEO, imprisoned while awaiting trial in the US.
Note that Joe Biden intervened to prevent the defection of a high-ranking Party member, Wang Lijun, who could have brought over the crown jewels - Party secrets nobody else knew, along with reams of documentation. Wang presumably know where the bodies are buried, both metaphorically and literally. I think it is becoming clear just why Biden jumped in - he’s bought and paid for.

Shady dealings, including racketeering, so show jobs, and money laundering = good
Like Trump said yesterday, he had businesses all over the world. Taking rent for a property he owns which happens to be in China is not the same as taking millions or billions in bribes from the Chinese Communist Party. There is no comparison. Nice try, Forbes. Must be a failing magazine desperate for readership.

So Trump (via the business his sons are running while he serves as POTUS) is making money from a lease in Trump Tower inked in 2008? Will any of them ever investigate how Biden and his family made their millions?
