“Blowin’ In The Wind”

When the Peter, Paul & Mary version of that tune was riding the charts, it was my favorite song. However, I didn't understand the real meaning of the lyrics. Later, I found out that the "wind" in question is Communism and the song appears to be inspired by Mao Tse-tung's proclamation in 1957 that "the east wind is prevailing over the west wind."

That’s an interesting interpretation.

Dylan didn’t have that in mind when he wrote it.

“As for the meaning – it is simplicity – the world is out there and everything is there to be seen for those who wish to look. Science and humanity linked as one eternity. A simple Taoist statement.”
