I doubt he would flip because it would be a meaningless gesture, losing Romney (assuming Collins and Murkowski vote no) would result in a 50-50 tie (assuming all democrats vote no as well). Which would mean Amy would still be confirmed with Mike Pence casting the tie breaking vote. Romney would only try for a "McCain moment" if his vote actually changed the result.
