“October 26, 1947” is better. (’Illary’s birthday present)
There are layover rules to abide by.
Great news. Lets have the floor vote today.
Not gonna happen. Here's a recently posted article that explains it:
FR: Amy Coney Barrett confirmation: What happens next, how to follow it [excellent account of Senate confirmation process and procedures]. Committee today, nomination on floor and file cloture tomorrow, cloture vote Sat/Sun (Dems can burn 30 hours of delay), gives us a final vote on Monday at the earliest if the Dems try to delay and Turtle burns 15 hours of sessions each Sat/Sun. If the Dems just let the vote happen, then it could be as early as Sat morning, but that's not gonna happen.
- McConnell has said he would put the nomination on the floor of the Senate on Friday. McConnell cannot put the nomination forth on the same day it comes out of committee via Senate rules.
- After the nomination is read, McConnell could file cloture or a measure to end any debate on the nomination then a day must go by before the Senate can vote on the cloture motion.
- Once the Senate votes on cloture, opponents may use up to 30 hours on the clock before a final confirmation vote. That means if the Senate votes on Sunday, the final vote on Barretts nomination could come as early as Monday.
