Pope Francis endorsed same-sex civil unions for the first time as pope while being interviewed for the feature-length documentary "Francesco," which premiered Wednesday at the Rome Film Festival. The papal thumbs-up came midway through the film that delves into issues Francis cares about most, including the environment, poverty, migration, racial and income inequality, and the people most affected by discrimination.

Jesus said that the Gates of Hell will never prevail against His church. He was not mistaken. The current Pope, therefore, is not part of Christ’s called out ones.

My comments were not directed at the NT church, but at the RC church. Has a Pope ever endorsed something this openly antithetical to Christian ethics. The only thing equivalent is if he basically said abortion is ok, I suppose.

Raised as, and remain a Protestant. Reading Revelations I never thought of the Catholic Church as one of the churches that fell away. Looking at the Catholic Church from the outside, I had viewed their resistance to contraception, and their fierce opposition to abortion, as indicators of a Church that would hold the line, no matter what, against worldly tides. In the past, I had always viewed Catholic Popes as serious thoughtful men of God. Now. To be brutally honest, this Pope is a bridge too far.
