The problem with the Real Clear Politics poll average (a good idea actually) is that it suffers from a well known and well documented problem:
GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT
If you average polls designed for propaganda purposes rather than for estimating how a given election will turn out you might just as well make it up. That costs less but you get the same result: GARBAGE.
20 times GARBAGE is still GARBAGE.

Nobody is “leading“ or “trailing“ or “closing“. The election hasn’t even happened yet!
