Maybe I’m missing something. If I look at those bar graphs and compare 2018 to 2016 it looks like the GOP outperformed the demons in early voting. But we know how the 2018 elections turned out, right?

Which particular state are you taking about here? And which electoral office? There was no presidential election in 2018.
Republicans didn’t do a good enough job on election day in 2018. I hope that’s the difference between 2020 and 2018. Republicans must do well in both early vote in-person as well as on election day.
Could have been ballot harvesting. You don’t really know how someone voted until the votes are counted. The democrats could be sending in harvested republican ballots but voting for the democrat that is how California did it.
