San Diego School System Changes Grading System to Be ‘Anti-Racist’
Breitbart ^ | 10/19/20

San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) is changing its grading policies in an attempt to “make them more anti-racist.” The new grading removes “non-academic factors,” with the school district using the example of turning in homework late.

“For months, the district has been working on multiple areas of its operations, including grading, in efforts to make them more anti-racist and equitable, partly in response to social justice protests that erupted over the summer in response to George Floyd’s death,” reported the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Now, the school district’s new grading system will no longer take into account what the district calls “non-academic factors,” such as handing in classroom work late and student behavior, as some students may have struggles related to home, or other responsibilities that affect their ability to turn in their work on time or learn content before a test.

“Students will no longer be docked in their academic grades for turning work in late or other factors related to work habits,” reports the San Diego Union-Tribune. “Those aspects of student behavior will be judged in a separate citizenship grade.”

School officials say that these changes are, in part, meant to address racial and other disparities in grading practices.

According to data, black students received D or F grades 20 percent of the time, and Hispanic students received D and F grades 23 percent of the time. Meanwhile, white students received these grades 7 percent of the time, while Asian students received them 6 percent of the time.

The districtwide average for D and F grades was 16 percent.

So turning in homework late is a “Black Thing”?

If it’s not than they are racist for implying it is.

I taught Jr High for over 30 years. Homework/daily work is much more like ‘real life’ than are tests. For most people once they leave school with only a few exceptions, tests are a thing of the past. But we all have to deal with daily work that needs to be done on time, or we pay a penalty.

Go ahead, send that credit card payment late. Doing stuff on time is racist. So is that late charge.

Why is SDUSD setting its students up for failure in life?

When thousands of tests consistently, time after time, all show the same thing, the right response is to pay attention to what they’re saying. Naturally, what they do is suppress the tests because they don’t like what the tests are saying.

Indoctrination has no time for things like grades and work habits.

Just stop enforcing any rules and regulations against black students and show your new stats to the world: perfect scores for black students!

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Naturally, what they do is suppress the tests because they don’t like what the tests are saying.

Exactly but consider too the tests point to problems that need to be addressed by the system. For instance, if students from a certain area constantly fail basic assessment tests what does that mean and how can it be fixed. If the local schools need be upgraded in equipment or personnel that would be important. It surely is not to toss the baby out with the bath water approach by tossing out the tests.

The hysterical part about this change is the woke white ladies who orchestrate government schools don’t want to be accused of racist behavior, so they implement into policy, their racist attitude that ALL minorities are incapable of behaving responsibly.

“It all seems to be part of an incredibly devious plan to keep blacks poor and dependent”

Don’t know whether it’s intentional but that’s the effect.

I have intelligent, educated family members that approve of propping up the weak. They don’t realize that there’s such a thing as too much kindness.

I wish blacks would get the mindset: don’t give us anything. We’ll prove that we are second to no one.

part of doing assigned work is handing it in when the deadline is

its setting up a life habit

doing tasks and work in a set amount of time

these people are actively destroying our future

its not racist that blacks do worse on school work

its because they arent doing the work

attributing racism to things that are not racist, IS RACIST in itself

I am a little skeptical of Asian students getting Ds and Fs 6% of the time.

Don't forget: Filipinos, Pakistanis, Chechnyans, etc. are also Asians (according to their definition).

What bull$hit! Race notwithstanding, either you have learned the material or you have not. Do I get extra points on an exam for being white? Holding black kids to a lower standard is RACIST!

“Gotta be SO careful about what kids are being taught...”

Find out if they will be reading “Sadaka and the Thousand Paper Cranes”. Usually read in the classroom, students not allowed to take it home. It makes it clear that it was us Americans that dropped a horrific atomic bomb on an innocent Japanese city.
