Children in the United States need to be back in school. Any teachers who don’t want to return should retire. If their union will protect them from that then the teachers should be at home teaching remotely while the children are in school, each classroom with a substitute who will help the kids using their videos from the teacher.

How many more instances of child abuse are being perpetrated and undetected while children are going to school?

While I completely agree with the sentiment kids need to be in school, I think in this case this poor girl was fortunate to have a remote session so her animal attacker was caught. If she was going to school she would just be abused after school with no one to even see and save her.

For this particular child the video is probably more effective as it seems that the abuse was ongoing. For a large percentage of abused children, the abuse is detected by an adult in school.

I pulled my kindergartener out of school first week of classes when they told me to sign a waiver for internet in case they came across sexual content. These kids have zero need to be on the internet.

Without the widespread availability of the Internet, the schools would not be closed. Without the massive contact tracing and testing which leads to so many cases (not deaths), the economy would not be shut down.

The iPhone was only introduced in 2007. Now a huge proportion of Americans have smartphones. Lockdown would not have been tolerated without this ability to communicate.

At the end of last years school year I helped my granddaughter (1st grade) do her remote learning on a tablet device. I watched from the sidelines. When she was done for the day and set the tablet on the kitchen counter,I was talking to her and just happened to notice the tablet was spelling out every word I said on the screen. I powered it off and put it in a paper grocery bag. Am I paranoid?
