It was a great place to be a kid from 1960 to 1965.
Of course, it’s the first place I got sucker punched by a black kid in a movie theater in downtown Ithaca when I was 13. The “knockout game” has been around a long time.

The State theater? I was there is the second half of the 70s. Great old style movie palace.

as a child, on July 4th the whole family plus uncles and aunts and cousins would drive up to Ithaca to the state park along Cayuga Lake...we'd place our picnic stuff on tables then all drive up to the orchards to pick cherries...all you could eat....then afterwards, come back to have our picnic and try to swim in the very cold lake....also, they had a lot of thin little shale rocks and a favorite pastime would be to see how far you could skim the rocks across the water....
Happy days back then..
