There should be NO moderators at all. Have someone ask the question ONLY. Each candidate has 2 minutes to answer. Buzzer goes off at 2 minutes and candidates must stop. If they go over time, it is subtracted from next 2 minutes. Period. Elementary school children could follow those simple rules.
How hard would it be to put auto timers on the mics?......at two minutes the mic goes off.....easy least.
They don’t need no stinking buzzer either. Just talk and question each other. Break it up with a bell and 2-minute commercial breaks after every 10 minutes (5/hour).
In addition, the questions should be randomly-generated from a list of pre-written questions that the Republicans draft for their opponent and the Democrats draft for their opponent. And some would be general questions for both candidates.
The questions could be read via “text-to-speech” by a computer voice. So no moderator. No facial expressions by a computer moderator.
