Phoenix - Maricopa County - will not go for Biden, even with the mass of Mexicans now there and voting.
The key to Arizona - and the future of the US if Arizona is indeed the key state now - is Tucson.
Tucson was always “liberal Republican” as it was more libertarian in outlook...part of the old Goldwater coalition. The leftist impulse there comes from the university, the general poverty, and far more Mexicans there now then ever, since in 1960 the town was 85% American.
But Pima County, the metro area, still votes Republican.
Because of the Covid, Trump did not go to Tucson as scheduled.
He could do so now, and bolster not just McSally - a woman who appears to need constant support - but the Trump Presidency itself.
Tucson is the forgotten part of Arizona. Go there and paint a vision of the future that is brighter, and more American - and he can turn the election in Arizona.
This is the key to not just Arizona but the entire election. It was on the Northwest side that Giffords was attacked, and from which Mark Kelly now runs his hostile to Arizonans campaign. He’s alien to the state, a stand in for Ms. El Campo Tire Giffords.
Trump can speak to the libertarian attitudes of Southern Arizona - a place where people still go shooting in Redington Pass and Molino Basin; where there is a paucity of real jobs and everyone gets by working survival jobs but it’s OK because housing is cheap, but it sure would be nice if it could be better, but welfare is not looked on with favor; where Air Force people from Davis Monthan still like to retire since they like the town and the weather so much; and where the industrious people on the Northwest side are still building and pushing to make it all even better for the hordes of white Californians escaping the mess they made in Los Angeles.
Trump needs to unify them behind him. When he does, he will secure Arizona. Phoenix is his.
He can defeat Joe Biden and Mark Kelly in Tucson, and thus win the entire election.
It was just too hot for his thousands of supporters to show up at this location. And the Antifa of Arizona folks who want him only appear after dark.
