OK, this is all about the AFT getting uncomfortable with the popularity of AR-type pistols, with pistol braces.

A Short Barreled Rifle (SBR) is a (heavily) federally regulated firearm that must have a tax stamp, like machine guns.

A short description of the issues is at the following video and shows that the AFT is not saying publicly what is the difference between a SBR and a pistol with a brace.

I really hope some day in the near future, we can get rid of the ridiculous regulation of suppressors and “short barreled rifles”. really, what the hell is the point? Modern powders and projectiles have made 16+” barrels unnecessary at the range that 95% of people shoot, including hunting. And the idea that legal suppressors would result in more murders is ridiculous. It would only result in less tinnitus and hearing loss.

I’ll be the first to admit, AR-15 “pistols” are almost exclusively used to avoid going through the hassle and cost of an SBR stamp, or to cheat the hunting regulations that allow “pistol hunters” to hunt earlier than rifle hunters. Get rid of SBR laws and you get rid of half the problem.

This is a Federal agency that should have been dissolved after Waco, and probably long before.

Their entire mission and raison d'être is to hunt down owners of three legal products - and the one product they most enthusiastically suppress through raids, regulations, and decrees is protected by the United States Constitution.

Imagine if we had a Federal agency named: The Bureau of Speech, Religion, and Assembly

But because of bureaucratic inertia, and especially Democrat and tyrannical motivation to harass, arrest, and suppress gun owners, the agency continues to exist and thrive.

More proof that the democrat deep state is everywhere and constantly looking for ways to make law abiding people into felons overnight.

...that arm brace is NOT fixed — it actually comes out — with any STOCK like that I can see why ATF is re-classing the pistol as a SBR...

It’s suppose to be an ARM BRACE not a stock - and there is clear images of people using it as a stock...

Well, you can always buy the brace from SB Tactical, and cut the barrel yourself???

24 days from the election - pure politics.

The Director and Deputy Director are both ATF lifers, and both were promoted at least one time by Obama.

I can't tell from the ATF website bio who appointed the current Director, or when.

The Deputy Director was clearly promoted by Trump.

I do not see any photos of the guns, but I suspect they must be political eye candy for gun haters.

If Trump revokes the new regulations, photos of those guns and Trump's decision will be Page One news everywhere.

If I use a pistol with a stock, I can hit my target more efficiently than holding the pistol in one hand, without a stock to brace on the shoulder. So, why is it better to shoot less accurately? Why is it wrong to be able to hit what you aim at?
