In Jan 1998 when the Lewinsky story broke, I expected Bill Clinton to resign out of dignity. He did not. Touchstone event. Prince of darkness run amok.
Not only did he not resign, his party and media mouthpieces rallied around to protect him. It was a stomach-churning event and a window into the soul of the Democrats. It has gotten much much worse since then.
