In a bizarre monologue on Fox News on Thursday, President Donald Trump said California was redirecting "millions of gallons" of water to the Pacific Ocean to help "certain little tiny fish." "California is going to have to ration water. You know why? Because they send millions of gallons of water out to sea, out to the Pacific, because they want to take care of certain little tiny fish that aren't doing very well without water," the US president told Fox News' Sean Hannity.
Trump has ridiculed Democrats in California for conservation policies that redirect water to the San Francisco Bay to protect a small species of native fish called the delta smelt.

“Trump has ridiculed Democrats in California for conservation policies that redirect water to the San Francisco Bay to protect a small species of native fish called the delta smelt.”
So they claim it was a bizarre rant- then they go on to prove his point?
What is bizarre is redirecting millions of gallons of water to the Pacific Ocean to help certain little tiny fish.
I live in California and Trump is not wrong. Rather than build dams to conserve water for people, they release water dow river and into the ocean to preserve the delta smelt, a tiny little fish.
It happened.
Trump is right, Cali dumps water to save Delta Smelt. Trump right liars lie.
It’s the delta smelt.
Universally regarded by the California government as being far, far more important than Central Valley farmers and those thirsty people in the greater Los Angeles area.
I live in California. We have been complaining about this delta smelt nonsense for more than 20 years and finally we have a president who listens to us.
Absolutely true.
the only thing bizarre is the legislators that ordered it.
They dump a LOT of fresh water into the ocean.
We’ve known this for years. It’s nice to see that the #MSMIsTheEnemyOfThePeople is catching up.
Back during the 90s, in severe drought conditions in Georgia, the Corp of Engineers emptied Lake Lanier, the main water supply for Atlanta, in order to try to preserve fresh water mussels downstream in Alabama. The MSM reported the Lanier water levels daily, attributing the low levels to the drought, when in fact it was the Fed. Gov’t that was dumping hundreds of millions of gallons of water.
You can pretty much bet Trump is talking about the same type thing in CA.
If Kalifornians are dumb enough to do this kind of crap, what I don’t doubt as they keep electing imbeciles like Newsom’s and Pelosi’s they deserve to be ridiculed.
Inelegant but truthful, like “..Just found out that Obama had my “wires tapped” in Trump Tower..”
Decades ago, I recall CA actually constructing expensive infrastructure, specifically for the fish, to more efficiently divert water from the ranchers, and to make sure fish could scale up elevation.
This is CA stupid, and has actually caused many problems.

The water war between northern and southern California is very real. It is a common belief, actually codified in law, that it is much better to dump many billions of gallons of fresh water into the ocean every day rather than allow it to go into the aqueduct and go to Southern California. The water war will be the trigger to divide California as we go further and further into this cyclic drought period. (Which is actually reverting to normal coming out of the last century of wetter weather.) We do have “Death Valley” and the “Mojave Desert” down here, and they didn’t form up over the last 10,000 years because we had a lot of rain.

This is just another example of how the media subtly inserts bias into their stories. It should be up the reader - and not the reporter - to decide if Trumps statement was bizarre or not.
He has mentioned this before Thursday, and it never was a “rant”. It’s a fact. Takes me back to old snail darter days. Let the people suffer and die, but let an insignificant mini-fish thrive. Sheesh.
The reasoning behind saving the delta guppies by flushing billions of gallons of water needed by farmers into the rivers is asinine.
