Lived in Cairo for a couple years eleven I was a kid. It was packed with people then. Now I’m sure it was more densely packed.

I think that means a 21 million increase in ten years, so, could be serious; that means up to 21 million are under ten years old, so, between 10 and 20 years from now, the population could triple.

Farming with oxen can support four million Egyptians. Mechanized modern practice farming probably works well enough for 25 million. Per a study years back, the Saudi government provided $ ten billion for subsistence grain imports. Sounds as though they have added a few tens-of-millions to the roster since that time.

This spurt of births might have brought Egypt up a bit on the rankings of countries by their fertility rates - Egypt was ranked 55th in 2018.

Notice also in the link below that the top 24 countries in the rankings by fertility rates are all in Africa.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states_and_dependencies_by_total_fertility_rate

The U.S. official fertility rate is not even at “replacement” rate (only 1.7 and 2.1 is replacement rate), however that is not counting population growth via immigration.
