You have to be at least rich enough to afford a rural county home which you designate as your primary residence. Then, the sheriff of that county will issue you a permit which is good state-wide. Of course the law makes no sense. You can only get the permit from your local police or sheriff, but the permit is good in any city or county.
They used to be able to issue permits to out-of-town residents. So a guy in L.A. could get a permit from the Culver City chief. But they did away with that. Now there has to be a real residential or employment nexus. Like others said, very rare in the populated counties but in the rural counties they are shall issue. Voting matters.
Voting matters? Are you kidding? The last 15 years I spent in CA, every single thing we voted for failed...It became all but pointless. Reason #14 why we bailed out of that s**t bucket.
Correct, my inlaws have a lake home up at Lake Isabella (Kern Co, CA) and a second (larger) home in Thousand Oaks, CA (Ventura Co, CA). They all worked in LA area and had CCW.
That was a few years ago before they all escaped the commies and moved to CO, WY, ID, etc.
