Former intelligence officials condemn Trump administration's selective releases about Russia investigation as a risk to sensitive sources

As the Trump administration continues to declassify selective CIA documents regarding the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, former intelligence officials are expressing concern the releases are politically motivated and potentially damaging national security.

Trump’s director of national intelligence, John Ratcliffe, has declassified bits and pieces of highly redacted CIA notes and memos including a Russian allegation then-Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton was planning to tie Trump to Russia to distract from the ongoing controversy over her private email server.

The highly selective disclosures reveal little additional substance about the investigation into Russian meddling or the Trump campaign, say former intelligence officers. Instead the release serves as a dangerous example of Ratcliffe politicizing intelligence and putting the CIA’s sources at risk without reason, as well as distracting the American public from other issues just weeks before the election.

Larry Pfeiffer, former senior CIA officer and director of George Mason University’s Hayden Center, said the decision to publish the memos fell into a pattern on the part of the White House, but is additionally disturbing because of the danger of revealing the agency’s sources and methods inside Russia.

Last week, Ratcliffe shared an investigative referral document with the Senate Judiciary Committee that mentions Clinton approving “a plan concerning U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections.” A second release, declassified on Tuesday, features handwritten notes by former CIA Director John Brennan concerning a discussion in Russia about Clinton’s alleged “plan” to tie Trump to Russia — around the same time Trump infamously called upon “Russia, if you’re listening” to find Clinton’s “missing” emails during a news conference.

However, the notes and referral have nothing to do with criminal activity on the part of the Clinton campaign, explained Brennan during a discussion on CBS.

as we all knew there would be some “main stream media that would say how unwise it was using “anonymous sources”

It’s like clockwork with these propagandists

If you don’t want to put sources at risk, then don’t involve them in a politically motivated charade.

The protection only applies to identifying a positive foreign source.

There are probably zero positive foreign sources in any of the bs cases against our president.

The only ones, who will be revealed are the American traitors, criminals in the FBI, CIA and DOJ!

They need to be revealed and charged with insurrection.

If they are tried and found guilty, send them to Gitmo for a free and long time vacation.

Nah! Just have quicky trials. If they are found guilty, they get to go to Gitmo for a long time.

Pray, Father, please bring justice to DC. Deliver We-Your-People from the conquest of our country by DC and its owners and facilitators. Traitors to our country violate your lawful intent of man’s lawful government. Bring your righteous judgement into action against our adversaries. Amen

The simple fact is that these assholes hate Trump because they cannot control him.
He owes them NOTHING, and they are still pissed.

This fallacious argument about ‘sources and methods’ has become a mantra of the swamp dwellers. And, it has little basis in fact.

I am retired from the DIA. I have seen thousands of classified memos. I have never seen one classified “Confidential/Sensitive Sources.” This classification does not exist. The Steele memos supposedly relied upon a source close to Putin. The history of redacted documents show that once they are unredacted it was not a sensitive source but an embarrassment to the intelligence community. Brennan claims “the notes and referral have nothing to do with criminal activity on the part of the Clinton campaign.” If he could lie to congress he certainly could lie to CBS.
P.S. Vladimir ‘Vovan’ Kuznetsov and Alexei ‘Lexus’ Stolyarov have been exposed.

There are NO legitimate intelligence sources in the entire Hillary/Obama/Biden/Comet coup attempt. None.

A deep deep stater. “From a national security perspective, that’s just an outrageous vulnerability,” said Larry Pfeiffer, who previously served as chief of staff at the CIA. Pfeiffer, who now serves as director of the Hayden Center for Intelligence at George Mason University, said that if he had faced even a fraction of Trump’s financial burden, “there is no question my clearances would be pulled.”
