You know what - I ACTUALLY agree with you. I really do.

I do believe, however, that N95 masks would work. I agree that the regular masks people are wearing do not work as effectively. Well fitted N95 masks would work. We game-planned this during every PANEX I ever worked.

So - I actually DO agree with you. What I am having an issue with is the treatment here that it is not a pandemic (which is simply defying the definition - look it up) and that it is a non-issue). I have an issue with the ignorance of the impact that co-morbidities play in ALL disease processes - like the flu. How many people die from the flu every year? NOT MANY! They die from co-morbidities.

I am frustrated by the posts I see elsewhere where people say it doesn't even exist because they haven't met anyone who has had it - meanwhile, I have personally known over a dozen who have had it and two who have died. One who has had it was 19 - and she still struggles with the effects 7 months later.

So - while the death rate seems to be 3-4x higher than the flu - and while we have certainly learned MUCH on how to mitigate these issues - what a LOT of people on here don't want to seem to mention is the lingering impacts of those who get sick. You don't get that with the flu. My 19-year-old friend still has breathing issues. Doubtful that would be the case had she just had the flu.

So - the left - yeah - I agree they are over-reacting and for power. Sure. However- there is an over-reaction here as well into ignorance.

*****************

Actually a few days ago the WHO released an estimate of total infections worldwide which indicates that the infection fatality rate for C19 is currently about 0.13%.

That makes it about as fatal as a bad flu strain.

Less dangerous for younger people, more dangerous for elderly.

Thank you for your response.

Well anyone who thinks there's not covid out there has their head deep in the sand. The President and his staff are facing this so denial of covid is just stupid.

I had the respiratory flu a few years ago, it was brutal! Had the cough for two months after recovery as did others in my workplace. It just lingered for any who caught it. So I have no problem there are ‘after effects’ people can deal with....and if they have other issues of health likely they'll suffer more-so.

There's no doubt this covid can hit some much harder than others...immune systems matter as do other issues...but people in excellent health are getting this as well and have died. Could be they waited too long to get care....so there's many factors that come into play. The thing is it can kill you when and especially with other health issues in play.

Everyone is certainly finding their own comfort level in avoiding this virus....but I think these extreme measures are way out there. Open the economy, kids back in school, and such.
